I need my umbrella to fly

Without having to relate to Mary Poppins herself, I really need my umbrella to fly. For real. At least that describes my situation here. Away from the loved ones back home even also still away from MY LOVE :( the 500 something miles that separates us from being together on this Valentine's Day. Nevertheless, I am still strong here knowing that we will see each other again in just matter of days :)

And to be honest with you, this is like my comfortable outfit whenever my mind stuck or not having any single idea on what to wear. I am a simple eclectic woman who knows how to dress appropriately without losing her adulthood elegant touch. Disagree with me?? ;)

This time, I am talking about dots. the dots refer to the tights I wore in this pictures. I used to complain about how big both my calf's are but I have learned that complaining won't get you even better anyway. I thank God for every single aspect I had in my life. ;)

like the after effect I got when I shot that picture with my baby Rebel. Dad seemed like a tiny shadow..:D

and oh, I had a haircut. too bad, I dislike short hair 'cause its just looked weird on my face.

Over sized

Why Over sized? LOL... I named the title "over sized" because it reflects how the clothes were when I wore them during my last vacation in my hometown. I lost a lot of weight when I was in NYC and when I came back home to Jakarta, dum dum dum, all my clothes are loosen up so much that I had to wear a belt every time I went somewhere. funny right?! however, it was a good thing consider walking is my exercise here in NYC where in Jakarta, that is something expensive you can not do freely. Even if I do that, I might as well have to carry pepper spray because crime rate in Jakarta is so high. Plus, you can not rely on public transportation. Like Los Angeles, private vehicle is the only way to go around. Especially if you are an upper class person :)

see that brown colored trouser I got from Bershka?! LOL is all I could type now :D

pardon for my lousy face in those pictures. I was not feeling very well. Not because of the jet lag but because of the weather. It was god-damn HOT. (:P)

Probably it is true with the proverb some said. What was meant to be for us it will happen to us or we will get what we wish for no matter how long the time we have to wait. And to end the conclusion...

Surprise Surprise... after God-knows sooo many months or probably years of saving, deep discussion with other experts, and much consideration; I bought my very first D-SLR camera...=)

the best Christmas purchase ever... Canon EOS Rebel T2i or 550 D with Lens Kit

I had been snapping some test pictures with it and the results were amazing. I even lowered the mega-pixel to 8 Mega-pixel and still it did not disappoint. ;) as a photography enthusiast, I definitely will save money for other variant of lenses.

speaking of gifts, I got a $20 voucher from Shoe Buy which I used to purchase this beautiful Keds shoes! Thank you Shoe Buy and Keds! best Christmas miracle indeed =)

And ooh I also got free 20 pages of Photo Book from Shutterfly! because of my contribution on Trip Advisor site! Thank God :)

Tomorrow night, I will go for a 2 weeks holiday in Jakarta. Can't believe I am going back home again. Flight departs at 8 PM ET sharp. so...

Christmas is just 8 more days and New Yorkers are excited already with exchanging gifts, the joyful Christmas tunes they listen and hum around town.. ah what a splendid holiday season ever... yet we must not forget that Christmas is the moment to rejoice Jesus' birth not just gifts and mistletoe and holly and decorations. I always thank God each minute each second every time I go anywhere even to the grocery store nearby my apartment for the blessings I received since the day I was born. HE never puts me down =)

Anyway...talking about outfit... I wore triple layers for Christmas celebration last December 3rd 2011 held at a church somewhere in New York. Those colors may seem 'dull' but I just loved to wore stuff that was truly outside my box.. haha talk about business' vocabulary..:P

Ok I know it is so lame that Thanksgiving was already over but pardon my laziness due to the fact assignments and projects were like A-hole; not to mention I must maintain 3.00 GPA because I am dying to enter Ivy Leagues School for Postgraduate/Doctorate degree someday.

taken at 34th St Penn Station ~ one of my favorite street ever to go shopping, have some fun, taste the delicacies it can offer, mingle around with people et cetera - despite all that stuff, I seriously LOATHE the station.. it is a bit dirty, floods during hard rain, rats everywhere (this is NYC-rats are EVERYWHERE) you name it.. oh well.. let my pink coat speaks for you :)

Pink Coat Everywhere Part one

Ok I am so confused with the new layout that Blogger applied for this..oh well, change was meant to happened anyway..:D

And I am not joking with the title either, I loved my pink coat ever since I bought it (and wore it of course). Have been wearing it almost every single day for this chilly yet unpredictable fall season in NYC. Btw, the coat was from H&M.

I am always a coffee person. I can drink up to three cups a day. (Ok, I am a bit exaggerating on it :D)

Anyway, how are you peeps? NYC was having a mood swing with its' weather lately, sometimes it hit 30-40F, sometimes it even hit 65F in the day..phew..:(

guess what?! it is the latest Burberry's fragrance called Burberry Body. Burberry sent it to me for free. plus a thank you postcard. oh, I should be thanking you, Burberry! :)

ps: even though the perfume bottle itself is a travel light one, I am more than happy!

it is now 12.45am NYC time..it is a bit chilly outside..59-60F ish something so here I am.. heater is not working that properly and I have been crying twice already..oh well, I guess I am entering some mood swing period here..:P

Ok so last Thursday, September 8 2011, was Fashion Night Out in New York City.. the frivolity was like happening in the entire area..5th avenue, Madison, Meatpacking, 34th Herald Square, Canal & Prince St..etc etc..you name it..

below are what I got during that night..and mind you, the most expensive item was my beauty product from Clinique [cleansing foam] which I got at Sephora and it costs $15ish.. all others are like $5, $9, $12, $14.. so, I spent my money wisely, am I right? :) and yes, each of these items is not more than $15.99 I can assure you that! =)

I was browsing through Forever 21's website and decided to choose 15 dresses out of thousands from their collection which really suit for Fall 2011.. I am not sure about winter as it really needs much more thicker fabric so I guess these 3 sections are perfect for Fall season..wrap them up with your stylish trench coat or a cape..=)

so, what do you guys think? so many neutral colors for Fall, there are some with traditional pattern which I loved..:)

I adore them..:) seriously, no matter how cheap or unbranded or vintage accessories are, they could always successfully alter your ordinary look into a sophisticated one :)

both rings are from H&M and I believe each of them was only $5,95

got a nice ransack or backpack or whatever you called it.. from Urban Outfitters.. it is a bit pricey ($60ish) but for me it really suits my daily needs as a continuing university student who always carries heavy books everywhere..:P

today, in the evening, I am moving to new location.. new neighborhood.. bye bye Astoria.. I hope I can visit you again in my free time.. I will miss you terribly.. all my neighbors and friends and people there..:(

I am planning to open this 2009 Fleur du Cap red wine before my departure to my future destination. 2 or 3 days before departure, farewell gathering at my house..:)

so, how's the month of May for you? is it good?? we're entering June in matter of seconds or minutes or even...now?? for me, it gave me quite melancholy feeling, emotions here and there, sadness, happiness, and the list continues...

glimpse of 2011 inacraft

sorry for the short hiatus. i just came back from short trip and such...

anyway, last April, on April 20th 2011, my mom and I went to INACRAFT 2011.. it is Jakarta International Handicraft Trade Fair. very large scale. almost all Indonesian provinces participated in that fair that lasted for 5 days. and it was huge! you can find anything unique! with cheap prices too! I only spent like Rp 150.000,- ($15) for so many items, not including Mom's items as well... lots of Asian buyers even from European and American buyers also came to this special event.. let the pictures speak.. :)

the advertorial on one of Indonesia's well known newspaper... the first day alone already packed with enthusiastic buyers! :)

got this lovely ring from one of the stand.. only $5.50

and i also got 5 package of aromatherapy incense for $5.50 as well.. 1 package consists of 20 sticks.. you can imagine lah how cheap they are right :)

this ring, owl ring, also got for like $5.50 ish... from East Borneo stand I think.. same like the blue ring above..

I happened to visit BALI ALUS stand which originated from BALI.. and the brand which I also purchased when i was at GWK Bali, last April.. all eco friendly products.. from fruits and tea.. my mom and I favorites :)

we got all of those with special price of course :) yeah.. I believe it was around $ 15 - 17 for all of them..

and yeah, about my outfit... that day..

after that exhausting yet amazing Bali trip I had, I was hibernating for around 2 or 3 days.. I did not really tan, just a couple of burn on my leg and arm which was kinda disgusting..LOL but good thing, its been past 2,5 weeks now so the burn sort of vanished :P

this is another part of KUTA beach taken around 5.30PM.. it was so cloudy but the view was slightly better than the other part which was extremely dirty..

me at GWK or Garuda Wisnu Kencana cultural park. good thing we experienced a great hot sunny day in the morning and afternoon. located at the top of Jimbaran hills.

and this is the body of that so-called Garuda's leader by the Balinese people. I'd been here before in 2002 or 2003 and yet they haven't even manage to bring the body together with the Garuda bird and everything..

ended the afternoon with a nice lunch at Di Mare's Karma Kandara Lounge restaurant and finally came down to its famous crystal clear beach and water..Karma Kandara..=)

me got this super ethnic necklace for FREE!!! yes! GRATIS!! how? apparently discounts at X, S M L store applied also to accessories section and since they're having Buy 1 Get 1 free system, so why not get the necklace too?? :) and yeah its 119.000 Rupiah, 10.000 cheaper than my next ring so YAY!!!

what a unique, beautiful ring... its 129.000 Rupiah ($15) and slightly a bit expensive than the necklace above so I only paid for this one.. what a great Buy 1 Get 1 rule! :) also from X, SML

hello March..lol. finally i am able to post something again. this time what I got for the recent month. I am not a compulsive shopper so these purchases were like combination of so many days of shopping. that is why i am dividing them into 2 posts. quite lazy to think about the titles so i will stick to 'favorite things' :D

from MUJI: knee length socks, pink marker, hair ties, aromatic candle and small candle holder.

hunting cool movies: Cool Hand Luke and Santa Paws DVD. region 3.

from ZARA: cotton trouser with dark color. my current favorite item :)

from X, SML : short cotton pants. its quite comfy and very appropriate for spring time ;)

magazine and book never gonna be a boredom for me. I found nice Aussie magazine called SHOP which I later found very useful for daily mix and match. second book is Gourmet Jakarta. basically it is nothing to read cause just talks about 2010 best restaurants but for culinary freak like me, duh, it is beyond important :P

another sober thing i always hated to attend is a simple party held by someone who has somewhat become our business partner for several years. in this case, my dad. no he did not held the soiree but one of the leader [i am not sure about his position, lets just call him that] held again another soiree but this time different location. food was much better than the last one and the crowds were bigger but sadly, they lacked space. hell, if dad insist on taking me to another soiree, i'd rather eat cup noodles at home and sit back on couch :P

there are total 8 dishes including desserts. and 2 performance of Lion dance :D

1st: fried seafood spring rolls, fried ebi, duck stir fry, octopus cooked in soy sauce...entree

second: egg asparagus soup

third: fried chicken cooked in sweet sauce. though i'd say it was quite salty :P

forth: fried fish in sweet soy sauce with bell peppers and cilantro.

fifth: fried prawn cooked in salty egg and herbs.my favorite :D

sixth: fried tofu cooked in sweet sauce alongside with chinese mushroom and horienso

seventh: simple fried rice. worst dish of the night. never have I tasted fried rice so bland o_o

eighth: desserts. selection of 2 puddings. coconut pudding / almond pudding. tried both. yummy.

lion dance attraction from one of local's famous lion dance school in Chinatown area.

and look how dull or sleepy I was during the soiree. guess I wasn't too excited after all..

not much thing I did during the first week of 2011 mainly because I was ill and cold for several days but fortunately, I am hundred percent OK now..Thank God :)

SALE is still going strong at several stores like Zara, Mango, PullnBear, Topshop, Forever21, Massimo Dutti, Banana Republic, GAP, Next, etc but not much great selection as well. I only bought like 3 tops from Mango [no pic shown], Body Shop's Moroccan Rose's shower gel and eau de toilette and these as well...

Ok, so I was back again from Singapore last week, I celebrated my Christmas there. phew, lots of people mingled on the street and flocked the busiest road in Sing, what else than Orchard Road. lol. anyway I stayed at Clarke Quay area (thank goodness this one was out of the crowds) but again, you can't stop the rhythm of Clarke Quay's most famous pubs and bars. they were playing fast music till midnight or even dawn, made my sleeping quality turned into zero percent. yeah I am not bragging about that. Christmas should be celebrated in happiest yet silenced way but they changed the concept into somewhat ecstatic and hyperbole. Oh well, lots of complaints from me won't even change the condition. anyway, here are most of the things I got for Christmas.

another addition. I am not a compulsive shopper, though. :D

black with white dots and flower patterned tights from Zara. God I love Zara tights. they're all so damn comfortable and flexible to all kinds of body type. can never get enough of 'em :P

premium baggy fit jeans, also from Zara. this is much more expensive than usual jeans sold by Zara and the TRF label, mainly because of the neat stitching and excellent fabric.

I don't have much collection of khaki's color but this one definitely another love struck. LOL. from Topshop.

needless to say, I am 'picky' when it comes to buying flat shoes or high heels or wedges. I found it amazing that one of the new arrival from The Little Things She Needs fits my feet perfectly without any blisters. and with $20ish price, who could even resist? ^_^ mom also got one for her.

I believe this one resembles moccasins type shoes. it is black suede in terms of color and fabric. they have another sparky colors like light green, light brown, maroon red, etc but I never really fancy on those colors :P

another best bargain. $12 top at Kamiseta. I love this color. being able to purchase something I favored and like with good price is indeed something wonderful. :)

ok, well, here are the stuffs that I got while I had my escapade last week to Singapore. ya, always shop till I drop. lol. relax, I did not use my credit card there (except paying hotel bills of course). all pure Singapore $ cash. that's the beauty of saving lots of cash while you were young [or in my case, after my 1st birthday]. you get to spend anything you like as soon as you're around my age :) --> feeling so old right now :P,

Got those two books at Kino Ngee Ann City with special price. I got two books for the price of $34ish. in Jakarta, I could only get one book with that price, not to mention the 'out of stock' reason yada yada. oh well, need to start reading again a.s.a.p :)

greetings from Sephora. LOL. anyway I spent nearly $300 at Sephora ION for 3 items: Lovely by SJP, Versace and Very Irresistible Givenchy perfumes. the cashier woman told me that I got free $40 voucher that could be used till the end of November. so, later on that night (night before Halloween), I went by MRT again to Orchard and this time I chose to spend my voucher at Ngee Ann City's branch. all products by Sephora. indeed blissfulness! :D (forgot to take the Sephora puff pic, i bought two!)

as for the Elizabeth Arden's STYLE perfume, I bought that 125ML at Changi Airport. quite a bargain consider the price was only $70ish. as far as I remember, that product has not reached Indonesian market (or is it??CMIIW) and with that goody price, there were absolutely no reason not to buy it :)

OK moving on to treats! yep, I shopped on Halloween's day (HAHA!) at Cocoa trees. MAN, both my parents and I were like crazy picking up all those chocolates and sweets. we were like maniac. trust me, those were just a few of samples. we bought lots just like we were moving out of country..LOL

Hmm.. regarding this one. Dad bought me this uber comfy flat from Calvin Klein at Takashimaya. they were having discounts with gifts so my mom and I decided to buy each one for us. the shoes is listed around $270, quite a bargain too. and there's only 2 pieces left for me and my mom's size. how fortunate we were :D

the gifts were amazing as well. passport holder, credit card wallet and key lock. since I already had those (minus the key lock), probably I'm gonna give those to my dad. lol.

Hey all of ya there..lol

anyway, I haven't updated my blog in like a month. i know, it has been a month. you guys proly r wondering what have I been doing, rite? well, frankly, i did not do anything hard and stressful except that pretty much tension going on inside the house and it involved my family. mom asked me to help for 'a' while my dad asked another help for 'b' and since my maid was gone for 10 days so I had to make sure the house was clean and organized every single day. that's not an easy thing to do consider living in tropical area means: lots and lots of dust, mopping every day, doing dishes, cleaning bathroom etc etc - the things that are done by the domestic. yeah, I became the help for 10 days.. oh well, it was not unusual for me. I have spent most of my time abroad either living for several months or days without help so basically, this was just another daily routine + some extra things to be taken care. sadly, it also prevented me from getting online with laptop. by the time I finished the work, I did not have enough mood to type or to think..

okay, nuff bout some random chit chat, I just wanna share with you these lovely photos of Carey Mulligan. mostly are her photos at the premiere of Wall Street 2. look at her, so adorable right? you know, if someday Hollywood wanna make a film about Twiggy Lawson's life, then Carey is definitely the perfect actress to portray her. Carey is tall, fit, healthy skinny, blond and has those features that captivating enough. surely it is just my imagination but with lil bit of makeup and touches here and there, hmm, I don't see why she can't become her ;)

I particularly love her facial expression in this shot. quite naive yet stunningly beautiful and sophisticated. and the dress, uh-um, I'd love to have it and pairs with brown heels.

July is definitely the happiest month of all months in the year for me, mainly because my birthday is celebrated in this month and above all, exclude the FIFA hype stuff, summer begins in all parts of the world. Indo is, by far (and forever will be) have summer nearly all year long but too bad due to global warming, even weather forecast can't predict the exact temperature that'll happen the next day or even today...LOL

anyway..I always subscribe to retail stores' newsletter so when I got this 3 announcement from 'em, I was like 'AAARRRGGGHHH'...meaning, I want them so badly...for my birthday will be perfect ya?? ;)

never get a chance to have lace boots. Mom actually have one or two pairs from her youth back then but they were given to someone else cause the size doesn't fit her (even me) anymore :P... one of the collection is from Michael Kors..

moving on to the dress, floral print dresses and bold color definitely rocks summer...from DVF aka Diane von Furstenberg...I mean, who doesn't love her!?! I would save the entire salary or even yearly income just to purchase one or two of her 'genuine' dress. (sorry but no replica for me..I don't like wearing fake stuff..)

last but not least is the Bohemian style called 'The Bohemian Goes West'...need I say more? love the pairing and everything. I always love to dress a bit Bohemian even when I have to go to 'fancy' shopping malls like PI and GI.. I forgot who created this Bohemian look but I'd like to extend my applause to he/she/them who had created this affordable yet stylish look :)

last wednesday I was invited to a soiree held by one of the famous international based bank at one of jakarta's exclusive seafood restaurant. as a dedicated customer, I, attended and dine with some of the associates and of course my father's colleagues. soiree doesn't have to be formal and stiff, just be classy and sophisticated :)
